The Houses · 1362 – 2003

Six centuries under the same gables

The three houses on Pikk 71 were bought out of the Hanseatic merchant rolls in 2001 and restored between 1999 and 2003 — brick by brick, beam by beam — into twenty-three rooms. Nothing modern was forced inside; everything modern lives where guests will never see it: the edge platform, the reservation engine, the underfloor systems.

01

Three Hanseatic Merchant Houses

Consecutively restored in 1362 on Pikk Street — the longest and most aristocratic of Tallinn's medieval avenues. Each gable retains its original brickwork, granite quoining, and hand-forged window cramps.

Hedged garden passage through the courtyard
02

The Cobblestone Courtyard & Herb Garden

A limestone-flagged passage between the gables, planted with sage, thyme, and winter heather. The courtyard is the hotel's quiet centre — no traffic, no voices but the gardeners and the pigeons.

03

The Mezzanine Salon & Timber Beams

Hand-carved 14th-century spruce beams, salvaged and re-set in 1999–2003, span the mezzanine salon at 4.2 metres. The salon hosts morning coffee service, chess, and the hotel's only fire in the house during winter.

04

Forest-to-Table Dining Room & Cellar Vaults

Beneath the central gable, 600-year-old limestone archways frame the private dining room and cellar vaults. The menu changes with the forest; the wine list with the cellar.
